Dear EASE colleagues, This announcement is to advertise the First International History Philosophy and Science Teaching Group (IHPST) Regional Conference in Asia, which is going to be held in Korea. The First IHPST Regional Conference in Asia will be held 18-20 October 2012 at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. The IHPST group is concerned to promote betterment of school and university science and mathematics education by making them informed by the history, philosophy and sociology of science and mathematics. The IHPST group has been holding biennial conferences in North America and Europe since 1989. Our invited speakers are as follows. Hasok Chang (Hans Rausing Professor of History and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge, UK) Igal Galili (professor of science education, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel) Yung Sik Kim (professor of the history of science, Seoul National University, Korea) Norman Lederman (professor of mathematics and science education, Illinois Institute of Technology, US) Alice Siu Ling Wong (associate professor of education, University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong) In addition Young Scholar Awards will be presented to graduate students or young scholars or both who have graduated within the last five years. Papers must be submitted for either oral or poster presentations. A special issue of the Springer journal Science & Education is devoted to 2012 IHPST Regional Conference in Asia.
